In the past 18 months, I’ve either received emails or phone calls that go something like this: “My child is a very talented basketball player. He/She wants to play travel and another program has offered my child a spot on the their travel team. We heard great things about your program so I wanted to find out more. Do you have travel?” “What grade is your child?” “Third grade.” What was I doing in third grade? Yet the story of the Cubs needs to be told not because of what we did, but because of what they did for us. Motion decided to say thank you to the principal, staff and students at our first rented public school – PS 191. We replaced the backboards over the summer with help from our friends at Zog Sports. I then decided to go into school to rally a...

Here are a few shots from our exciting Gotham Basketball Association league. We started with six boys’ teams 4 seasons ago. We’re up to close to 60 teams – half boys, half girls. Getting boys teams is the easy part. I cannot express how pleased I am with not only how well it all worked out with the girls getting equal opportunity, but how inspirational it is to see some of these girls go to work. Our league showcases some of the best young talent in NYC, and I’m proud to say that Motion Purple Gr. 6 has given...
